Johnson City has come a long way in the last few years. New businesses and restaurants have steadily moved in and added growth to the area. Here are a few of our favorite eateries, local shops, and weekly festivities.

Downtown Paw Co.

Most people own a dog or know someone that owns a dog. This shop is located on E. Main St in downtown Johnson City and offers the most of the essentials every dog could need. The most notable items are the local products they carry including homemade dog treats. Downtown Paw Co. also carries products for cats.

Fizz Soda Bar

They have the newest take on the root beer float and so much more. This soda shop is the perfect place to take a study break and gulp a unique drink. Offering a variety of floats, hand crafted sodas and mixed beverages this is a local shop everyone needs to visit.

Brew Plum Coffee Bar & Krazy Krepes

These business are both located within Nelson’s Fine Art Gallery on Main Street. College kids are always looking for places to sit and drink coffee, and this one is definitely worth checking out. Krazy Krepes offers a wide selection of different crepes from savory to sweet.

Farmers Market

This is great opportunity to check out local business that are not necessarily located downtown. Vendors come from all over this region to sell organic vegetables, fruits, and meats. Their website list when different produce will be available. The market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

First Fridays

Community members and local business owners host events every first Friday of the month. Each festival has a different theme, and each celebrates something unique. This month’s First Friday event kicks off with Corazon Latino. This Latino festival offers free dance lessons, door prizes, food and live entertainment. Local business and restaurants are open during the festivities, and live music is always something to check out during First Friday.
