Just hanging out.

When reflecting on life at home, most students can rattle off a few things they miss. When transitioning into life at college, however, the most important thing left behind is not their parents, friends or family. No, the comfort from home that students only really miss is their pets.

After many shed tears over the absence of students’ beloved furry friends, the time for change is near. Milligan College administrators have decided to do something about this, so for one day, students are encouraged to bring their pets to campus and to each class.

On April 1, your pet is welcome to accompany you to every class ,and you can even bring it to chapel. Animals deserve the chance to become spiritually formed, too.

John Crowe, an animal enthusiast, believes this day will bring a new dynamic to the campus.

“Well, there’s a certain degree of diversity that comes with this day. You know, getting to hear snake tongue and lion language,” said Crowe. “I have always had trouble interacting with wild animals, so I would love to have an open space to interact with them in an educational setting.”

For Hope Dingus, this day will be an opportunity to broaden her pet’s horizons and cultural experiences.

“My favorite part would be taking my sweet bear Geoffrey to my fine arts classes with me. He loves all aspects of the arts,” Dingus said. “He is really great at making things with his ‘bear’ hands!”

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Wow, my dog would love this multivariable calculus class” or “This world literature class would really help my baby panther become a well-rounded individual?”  Now is your opportunity to put your thoughts into action.

Whether your beloved best friend is a cuddly kitten, tremendous toad, sneaky snake or a curious cow, they are officially welcome to join Buff nation!
