Ever since the release of the first iPhone in 2007 and the first Android operating system shortly following in 2008, there has been a constant battle over which one people prefer and why. Apple has worked hard to build a brand for itself over the years, but what other than the brand makes it so preferable?
It is pretty clear that Milligan students prefer the iPhone. Our Twitter poll showed that 90 percent of those surveyed are Apple enthusiasts, but what makes the iPhone more preferable to Milligan?

“They are more reliable and less susceptible to being hacked,” said senior communications major Joshua Buckles.
Junior education major and basketball player Hannah Morgan prefers the iPhone because of the iMessage feature.

"Apple maintains tight control over the entire ecosystem, from the hardware and OS to screening the apps and accessories," security engineer James Maude told the International Business Times. "Although there have been occasional issues, these are much easier to deal with as one company owns and manages the entire system."

If security is your main concern, go with the iPhone for now. If you’re looking for a lot of storage, compatibility across devices, and customizability, go with an Android phone such as a Samsung Galaxy. Mac user? Definitely the iPhone.
Choosing one depends on what you’re looking for in a smartphone, because both Apple and Android have solid options to choose from.
