Milligan’s occupational therapy program hosted the sixth annual Shake It For Autism event. After donating $5 at the door, participants worked up a sweat dancing to the beat Thursday night in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Participants said the workout was energetic and entertaining, but also rewarding.
“The proceeds go to ETSU Marshall T. Nave Center, which is a place that serves people with autism and other related communication and social pragmatic disorders,” said Chelsea Davis, a second year occupational therapy student who helped coordinate the event.
Shake It For Autism consists of a dynamic dance workout, she added.. “The program is WERQ. It is similar to Zumba. A program leader donates her time and teaches a class for about an hour and a half.”
The OT Program coupled with the Speech-Language Pathology Program at ETSU to coordinate this event.
