Gone Girl Takes Theaters By Storm

Rolling Stone Magazine has called it the “date night movie of the year”. The book spent weeks on the bestseller’s lists, captivating audiences of all ages. Now, Gone Girl has taken theaters by storm with the new motion picture inspired by Gillian Flynn’s chart-topping novel.

Flynn is known for her writing style of keeping readers on their feet with suspenseful and unpredictable storylines: Gone Girl is no exception.

Gone Girl tells the story of Nick Dunne, a young man who lives an ordinary life. That is, until his wife went missing on the day of their 5th anniversary. Through the eyes of Nick, as well as journal entries from his missing wife, Amy Elliot, a jaw-dropping story is told and questions arise to the legitimacy of Amy’s disappearance.

David Fincher, the director of Gone Girl, proved his expertise. With a resume including films such as Fight Club, The Social Network, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fincher’s suspenseful directing styles are seen all throughout his newest motion picture.

One of the best enhancements of Hollywood’s newest blockbuster is the cast. Gone Girl contains a cast of big name celebrities; such as, Ben Affleck, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tyler Perry. Also, presenting some new names; Carrie Coon and Kim Dickens, who proved their talent by spicing, up the story with strong-headed supporting characters.

However, the real star of the movie is a name that may not be well known in every American household, but is definitely not a stranger to the film industry: Rosamund Pike. Though she sounds like a newcomer, Pike has an impressive filmography, including Pride & Prejudice and Die Another Day. Pike proved her acting expertise as the star of Gone Girl, personifying the unique and complex role of Amy Elliott.

The entire cast and crew of Gone Girl deserve a thumbs up for one reason: maintaining the integrity of the book. A New York Times’ Bestseller for weeks, Flynn’s Gone Girl proved to be a popular novel. Often in this situation, moviemakers tend to take a popular storyline and ruin it in the process of making it into a motion picture. However, this is not the case with Gone Girl. The cast and crew of the hit film stuck to the storyline, delivering a movie that did not disappoint.

Gone Girl is guaranteed to leave audiences with their jaws dropped and on the edge of their seats, constantly questioning who is truly responsible for the disappearance of Amy Elliott, the gone girl.
