Milligan hosted the pop music band Icarus Account last Friday night on the Village Lawn.

The band members, twins Ty and Trey Turner from Florida, performed a set of heartbreak and love themed songs including “Yellow Shirt” and “Angel of Mine.” Milligan’s SUB 7 staff set up the event.

“I called the band to come perform. but it was funny because several people had come and recommended them,” said staffer member Abby Floyd.

Nearly 200 people came to the concert and many commented on the band’s performance.

“I was a little on the fence about them at first but yeah they’re good,” said sophomore Nathan Dickerson. “They seem like they really know what they’re doing.”

During the set, the Turners spoke to the audience about their band’s beginnings in 2006. Trey left college during their junior year to pursue music. While Ty is still in school, the two travel throughout Florida performing concerts regularly.

Through the Milligan concert, most of the cheering came from the female audience members – a fact noted by the band.

“We love that the girls are like ‘whoo!’ and the guys are like ‘this is so girly,’” said Ty after they finished a song.

The band’s new album, “Carry Me Home,” will be released on August 28.
