Looking for a College Deal?

One of the biggest struggles in college is money and finances. Whether its splurging on a Cookout tray with late at night or spending $10 on the latest movie at Carmike, Cinemas students often find it difficult to budget money in college.

 

“I think deals are very convenient because money is hard to come by in college, especially when you have to buy for school supplies and other necessities,” said junior Ruth Aramburu

 

“I am all for discounts and deals around town. As a freshman, it’s hard being on my own and having to pay for things that my parents used to take care. Being able to get more bang for my buck is really helpful,” added freshman Simone Chuut

 

If you can relate, here are some fun and helpful deals and discounts in the tri-cities area:

 

  • Keva Juice – If you’re looking for a refreshing fruity drink, Keva Juice’s smoothies are the way to go. Present your student ID and receive 10% off your purchase. (North Roan Street, Johnson City)

 

  • Mr. K’s – Textbooks, bestsellers, albums, movies, and more can all be found brand new or slightly used at one of the biggest bargain bookstores in the area. You can take slightly used books, textbooks, movies, and even technology to Mr. K’s to receive store credit or cash. (South Roan Street, Johnson City)

 

  • Johnny Brusco’s – New York style pizza is fantastic enough on its own. The only thing that can make it better is giant slices for $1 on Monday nights. (North Roan Street, Johnson City)

 

  • Chick-fil-a – $3.99 CFA sandwich meal on Wednesday nights for college students. (N. State of Franklin, Johnson City)

  • Putt-putt Fun Center – If you’re looking for something fun to do one night with friends and you’re up for a little bit of a drive, head to Kingsport for $4 putt-putt. (Kingsport)

 

  • Holiday Lanes– Looking for inexpensive fun for the whole squad? Check out Holiday Lanes $1 bowling night on Wednesdays. (Located off of North Roan Street, Johnson City)

 

  • Menchies – Get 20% off with student ID. (N. State of Franklin, Johnson City)

 

  • Cook out- It’s the Holy Grail for college students. Get a ridiculous amount of food and a fabulous milkshake, all for $6.

 

  • Moto’s Japanese – Can any college student afford full priced Japanese restaurants? Stop by Moto’s for $5 lunch deals. (North Roan Street)

 

  • Real to Reel- Loved this summer’s popular movie but can’t wait for them to come out on DVD? Enjoy $3 movies just out of theaters and your favorite classics at Real to Reel.(South Roan Street)

 

  • Applebee’s- Get half price appetizers after 8:00 p.m.  Anything from quesadillas, to spinach-artichoke dip, to buffalo wings! (Elk Avenue, Elizabethton and North Roan Street, Johnson City)
