Thirty-five of 79 entries were chosen for display in Milligan’s annual Juried Art Exhibition last Sunday.

Six students received the Award of Excellence for their work: Liz Moughon, Meaghan Roland, Kate Handzlik, Abigail Bethea, Daniela De Los Santos and Krista Knudsten.

Justin Timmins, James Ramsaran, Monica Fife, Saziye Gourley-Ozhayta, Tyler McElfresh and Meagan E. Smith each received an Award of Merit.

Juror Mary Barton Nees, an adjunct member of the art and design faculty at East Tennessee State University, chose the awards. The twelve students awarded were given a cash prize and an honor to add to the resume.

“I think that this was a blessing within itself,” said Ozhayata. “Not only being able to participate in a juried art show, but being able to display work that you have worked on for a period of time.”

The show will be up through the weekend.
