Ronda Paulson, cheer and dance coach and anatomy professor, spoke on John 17:33 and the importance of unity at the first Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) meeting on Thursday, September 11, in Lower Seeger.

"It's important for athletes to realize that not only are they a part of their own teams, but they are united into an even bigger team together," Paulson said.

Before Paulson spoke, the group of athletes participated in a lively game as an ice breaker.

Along with learning how Jesus prayed that we would be united and turn toward God, Paulson wanted the athletes to realize the impact they could have if they decided to not only get pumped for their sport but for Jesus as well. Paulson hoped that seeing other athletes off the field praying and worshipping would get them excited about being united. FCA gives student athletes a chance to break the barrier between sports and Jesus and do so together.

"Our main goal is to serve the athletes of all 26 of the sports teams here at Milligan and facilitate team growth in Christ," said Kylie Russell, president of FCA and member of the basketball team.

FCA meetings are held either for SFP credits, where students participate in activities such as games, service projects and listening to a coach speaker, or non-SFP events, where the athletes get together to support the other athletes buy baking cookies or putting together goodie bags for them. While the events are centered around teamwork and athletes, everyone is welcome to join the FCA team.
