On Friday, Milligan’s men’s soccer team traveled to Hardeeville, South Carolina to face Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with hopes of holding onto their undefeated season. The Buffs were 2-1-0 going into the game and looking for momentum for their upcoming conference play.
Milligan came out early with two quick goals in the first half but gave up two goals to SCAD in the second half, tying the game. Eventually, the game came to a standstill with neither team being able to score, eventually leading to two overtimes.
Milligan ended the game in a tie, making their record 2-2-0, and therefore holding on to their undefeated season.
In regards to the rest of the season, Milligan junior middle Calvin Mangunda has high aspirations. “Our goal is the national championship, but we are going to take it one game at a time.”
Milligan’s next game is set for Wednesday, Sept. 17, when the Buffs will begin conference play against St. Andrews University.
Note: Women’s soccer lost to Georgia Gwinnett College 6-0 on Sunday Sep. 14, 2014. Their next game will be Saturday, Sep. 20, and that will kick off conference play
