ELIZABETHTON, TN- Nine hours and 36 holes later, the Milligan College Men’s Golf team was able to bring home the Champions Cup after beating Tennessee Wesleyan, 10-6, at the Elizabethton Golf Course on Thursday.
After competing against the Bulldogs 11 times, the Buffs now hold the all-time lead, 6-5.
“They played great today,” said head Coach Tony Wallingford. “It’s always a very competitive match.”
Tyler Justice, Ross Miller and Josh Gambrell scored two and a half points for the Buffs during this match played event. Milligan won three of the four points in alternate shot, two and a half of four possible points in better ball, and won each of the first four singles matches.
“I played really good today,” said Junior Nick Kyte. “I shot 70, just a really consistent day. I didn’t make some of the birdie shots I wanted to make but, overall it was a consistent round.”
After a disappointing turn out at the Anderson invitational, Wallingford believes that this win was exactly what the boys needed.
The next match for the Buffs will be at the Etowah Intercollegiate Tournament in Etowah, North Carolina- Sept. 22-23.
