Get Ready for Rush Day!

September 9, 2014

Rush Day is coming! Clubs and businesses from campus and the surrounding community prepare to line the Mary Sword Commons, in hope to inform and pique students’ interests of what Milligan College, Elizabethton and Johnson City has to offer.

Rush Day is a tradition at Milligan that allows and encourages students to become more integrated in the campus life, and serves as an opportunity for the community to showcase a little of what it has to offer as well.

Kristal Dove, Director of Campus Activities, describes Rush Day as, “A great chance for students to learn more about all the clubs and organizations that we have on campus to get plugged-in to.”

Returning students may notice a change in Rush Day.  This year Rush Day has combined with the Business Expo, which is usually held during Welcome Week.  Because of this change, more businesses will be represented but no churches from the community will be present.  Dove explains this change: “It’s a great way for students to find out more about local businesses, as well as learning how to support local businesses, and to establish a relationship between students with the local communities as well.”

Along with a new set up, a few clubs new to Milligan will be presented.  Major Players is a new theatre improve club led by professor Dick Majors.  A couple other new clubs are Young Life and One Seven, which are both relational ministries that are focused on the community surrounding Milligan.

One other thing Dove made sure to inform is the first 300 students to come to Rush Day will receive a free Chick-fil-a chicken biscuit.  The event will be held on the Mary Sword Commons this Wednesday, September 10th between 9 am and noon.

Rush Day is this Wednesday from 9am to noon.
